Yoga, an ancient Indian philosophy, the principles of which are timeless, holding true as much in today's time as it did centuries ago.Yoga is one of the six orthodox systems of Indian Philosophy. It was collated, Co-ordinate and systematized by Patanjali (The pro-ponder of Yoga Philosophy) in his classical work, the Yoga Sutras, which consists of 185 terse aphorisms. Stress, anxiety, ill-health, unhappiness and anger can be transformed into peacefulness, vibrant health, service and love towards all creation.In addition ayoga practitioner may follow yama or rule for virtious living.

Yoga means "to unite". Primarily an exercise through cultivation of poses and practices that aim towards harmonising your mind, body and soul to achieve a state of oneness with the universe. The techniques are important in this process but the goal should be kept firmly in mind.

The three main aspects of yoga are Asanas,Pranayama,Meditation


The various yogic poses that give your body flexibility, strengthen the muscles and even reduce fat build-up. More importantly many asanas or poses are aimed at improving the blood circulation and functioning of specific organs in your body.Yoga makes you flexible in mind, body and soul.


Pranayama can be called the singular most important aspect of yoga as they are means to purify the subtle energies flowing through the body. Yogic breathing techniques are an effective tool to calm, energize, harmonise and tranquillise the body and mind. All Asana are to be properly coordinated with inhalation, exhalation and holding of breath. Breathing patterns if not followed correctly could result in the asana not having its desired effect.


Mediation is a means to calm down mind. An invaluable tool in managing stress and anxiety. It trains the mind to be calm, centred, relaxed and detached. It also curbs overreaction, emotional outbursts and losing temper, thus giving the mind the time to rationalise and think about practical solutions.Regular practice of yoga not only keeps the body healthy and fit, but also prevents either of the physical, mental and emotional imbalances due to various reasons in our day-to-day life

Pranayama and meditation have amazing capacity to reduce the stress inducing hormones. It restores calm, promotes positivism, and encourages patience and harbours compassion. It will keep you fresh and rejuvenated throughout the year both physically and mentally.

The practice of Yoga induces a primary sense of measure and proportion. Each unfulfilled area of tissue and nerve, of brain or lung, is a challenge to our will and integrity.

Most ideal diet for yoga practitioner is Sattvic food. It nourishes the body and maintains it in a peaceful state. It also keeps calm and purifies the mind, enabling it to function at its maximum potential. It includes cereals, fresh fruits and vegetables, milk and milk products, nuts, seeds and honey.

Yama is a "moral restraint" or rule for living virtuously. Ten yamas are
* Ahimsa: Abstinence from injury, or harm to any living creature in thought, word, or deed. This is the "main" Yama. The other nine are there in support of its accomplishment.
* Satya: Truthfulness in word and thought (in conformity with the facts).
* Asteya: No stealing, no coveting, no entering into debt.
* Brahmacharya: Divine conduct, continence, celibate when single, faithful when married.
* Kshama: Patience, releasing time, functioning in the now.
* Dhriti: Steadfastness, overcoming non-perseverance, fear, and indecision; seeing each task through to completion.
* Daya: Compassion; conquering callous, cruel and insensitive feelings toward all beings.
* Arjava: Honesty, straightforwardness, renouncing deception and wrongdoing.
* Mitahara: Moderate appetite, neither eating too much nor to little; nor consuming meat, fish, shellfish, fowl or eggs.
* Shaucha: Purity, avoidance of impurity in body, mind and speech

In short yoga helps you to be balanced,relaxed,healthy,vital,it reduces stress,increases concentration and mental power,rejuvenate your body.
